The Gatekeeper Speaks
How do you know what you know? You are so certain, so sure of how the world works, of who you are, of who others are. How do you know what you know? You hold so tightly to your identification of yourself. You are this, not that. You had this history, not that. How do you know what you know?
Your mind churns, you grab on to old patterns, old thoughts, old beliefs. But what is here now? How do you know what you know? What are you willing to release? What are you willing to let go of, in order to become knowing? How do you know what you know?
Can you still your mind, your judgments, your desire to acquire knowledge? Can you settle into the uncertainty of not knowing? Can you release the gripping of the mind and relax into being knowing? Quiet. Release. Let go. To pass my gate, become the question. How do you know what you know?
There is total repose in presence, by being the presence so completely that we only know that we know through experiencing ourselves as a field of Knowing.

The aspect of basic Knowing implies a complete identity of knowing and being, the experience of it is of deep abiding, total settling in oneself, complete repose in one’s presence. Any agitation, any movement away from oneself, will tend to disconnect us from it.
When knowing splits off from being, we end up with ordinary knowledge, a knowledge that is not sufficient to reconnect us with our Being, no matter how useful it is in the practical world. Such understanding reveals the necessity for stillness, silence, slowness, and solitude in the initial stages of any inner path. Otherwise, it will be difficult for us to settle down and for our mind to abide in its primordial being. And without this abiding, we have no other way to truly know ourselves.
